Meath Heritage Trail

Trim Castle - The centre of Trim town is dominated by the remains of King John's Castle. This is a pre-historic monument with its round towers and high crosses.

Newgrange, Bru na Boinne ( Irelands leading “World Heritage” designated site) This prehistoric burial site is in fact older than the Pyramids of Egypt and one of the world's first great pieces of architecture.

Hill of Tara - Site of the residence of the High Kings of Ireland

Bective Abbey - The substantial remains of Ireland 's second Cistercian monastry founded in 1147

Athboy The Town of Yellow Ford – has some of it original medieval town wall still intact.

Kells Heritage Town - One of the finest examples of a monastic settlement to be found.

Oldcastle and Loughcrew - The great passage tomb at Loughcrew is possibly one of the oldest cemeteries in the world.

Hill of Slane - on which St. Patrick lit the Pascal Fire - introducing the advent of Catholicism

Battle of the Boyne Site - Location of the battle which took place in 1690 when Jame's II was defeated by William of Orange.
